Dolly Parton is not only a singer but also a songwriter, composer, author, actress and a philanthropist. She had been touring extensively from the late 1960s until the early 1990s. Dolly Parton is like a female Elvis Presley, there is just not any other artist like her. I love to watch her and hear her. Dolly Parton is, without a doubt, one hilarious country character, a throwback to a time when the ladies of Opry had hair as big as their charms. In typical Parton fashion, she parodies herself on her new album with Backwoods Barbie, her first return to straight-up country after a series of highly acclaimed bluegrass records.
Dolly Parton is considered as the most successful female country artist in history, with 25 number-one singles and 42 top-10 country albums. This is what makes her popular and loved by thousands of people in US and all around the world. Dolly Parton is almost more famous for her impossibly curvaceous figure and huge hair than for her music — which is somewhat of a shame. She is, after all, a distinctive and important part of country music, representing a link from the music of her Appalachian birth place to country’s crossover to pop. Dolly Parton is the most honored female country performer of all time. Achieving 25 RIAA certified gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards, she has had 25 songs reach number 1 on the Billboard Country charts, a record for a female artist.
Dolly Parton is back with her second single from her new album ‘Backwoods Barbie’. The album is her first mainstream country album in almost a decade, and it’s one of her best albums in my opinion. Dolly Parton is aiming to reach a high ranking on the music charts with her latest CD Backwoods Barbie. The CD is one of her best in the last seventeen years and has managed to grab the second position on the billboards in its second week only. Dolly Parton is a legendary country superstar and one of the greatest singer songwriters of our generation. She has written over 3,000 songs, had numerous number 1 hits worldwide, won countless awards, and gold and platinum discs.
Dolly Parton is mentoring the kids on American Idol and will be on the show Wednesday. But Dolly has been working 9 to 5 on another exciting project: 9 to 5 the Broadway musical for which Dolly has written a score. Dolly Parton is an extremely well known and very recognizable business women. She has built an international multi dollar business from her great singing voice.
Backwoods Barbie Tour
Parton is currently gearing up for a world tour known as the Backwoods Barbie Tour. It was set to begin with a U.S. run in February, March, and April of 2008 to coincide with the release of the album of the same name. However, due to recent back problems she has postponed all US dates for at least 6 weeks.
She’ll travel to Europe for the summer, and shows will continue back in the United States, Canada, and reportedly Australia through the end of 2008 and into 2009.
Parton invested much of her earnings into business ventures in her native East Tennessee, notably Pigeon Forge, which includes a theme park named Dollywood (the former Silver Dollar City) and a dinner show called Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede, which also has venues in Branson, Missouri and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The area is a thriving tourist attraction, drawing visitors from large parts of the Southeastern and Midwestern United States.
