April 17, 2008
Country-Yall.com contacted The 2007 PRCA World Bareback Champion, to ask him a few questions about what it takes to be a champion in the ultra-competitive world of professional rodeo.
Bobby and his wife Kate, live with their 3 children Charlie, Trey, and Laura in Culver, Oregon.
Bobby Mote’s youth was a stepping stone on his path to becoming a 2 time World Champion. Bobby says “I grew up riding horses and then in high school some friends talked about riding bareback horses and that sounded like fun so I started getting on every chance I had.”
When asked what his passions are Bobby said that “I am motivated to win world titles and passionate about spreading the word of Jesus Christ.”
Bobby took time to explain what he does, and what the PRCA is. “The PRCA is the largest rodeo sanctioning body in the world. Bareback riding is an event where the cowboy has to ride a bucking horse for 8 seconds. The cowboy is only allowed to use one hand to hold onto a rawhide handle.”
Bobby spoke with us about what he does “When I am not traveling to rodeos I like to spend time with my family and go to team roping competitions.”
In every career, athletes have their ups and downs, we asked Bobby what keeps him going. “I am inspired by any one who is able to be at the top of their game and balance family, faith and profession.
Bobby told us that for the rest of the year ”I plan to keep improving in what I am doing and set myself up to win more world titles. Past that I am sure what ever I do will be exciting.
Bobby would like to mention that “I am sponsored by Wrangler, Tony Lama Boots, Heel-o-matic, Cactus ropes, Cactus Saddlery and Barstow Pro Rodeo Equipment.”
