We Are Marshall Nascar Stock Car To Make Debut At Lowes Motor Speedway
May 22, 2008
The Marshall University, nationwide series stock car will make its debut at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway this weekend for the Carquest Auto Parts 300. The green and white Marshall car was supposed to make its debut at the March Bristol Tennessee race, but rain washed out qualifying.
The number 75 will not be used on the Dodge Charger. The cars paint scheme will be the same, but will bear the number 05.
The Day Enterprises Herd Racing team will place driver Brert Rowe in the car for this weekend. The number 75 was to be used in memory of the 75 Marshall football coaches, players, and supporters who were killed in a 1970 plane crash. Dana Tomes, the cars majority investor said “We hate to not have the number 75 car, but it was just one of those business decisions. There’s a lot of risk when you’re a new team and you don’t have any points.”
Other cars bearing college paint schemes include Auburn University, Florida State University, Maryland and Georgetown.
