Corn isn’t just corn, most especially if you are in Iowa. This state is known to produce corn and supply it to other states and countries as well. You can be sure that here in Iowa, growing corn is taken seriously. You will be surprised at the number of things that can be done with corn in Iowa. They don’t simply eat these things here; they process and manufacture it to make sure that they can get everything they can out of it.

This crop which we love so much whether it’s buttered on the cob or popped while we’re watching our favorite flick starts out as just a kernel. Broken down there are four main components which you will get from your corn kernel. These are: starch, protein, fiber and oil. Visit your local supermarket and you will find that thousands of products are listed to have some type of corn component. Not only food products depend on corn.

Among the many uses of corn aside from being food is being a component for other products. You will find that it can be used to run your car or an engine. Ethanol can be produced from corn and used to run engines. The same ethanol can also be use in the production of carbonated drinks and dry ice. Who would have thought all this could come from corn. Even the chicken that we eat is raised on corn grains.

Who would have thought that there would be so many uses for corn? The possibilities seem to be endless. Corn can go into the production of rubber tires, plastics, cosmetics and even textiles. Who knows what they can’t do with corn in Iowa? You don’t have to think twice about why it’s taken seriously considering the broad spectrum of profit to be made.

Visit the next Iowa craft fair or festival and you will surely find something that has been made out of corn; whether it’s some yummy corn muffins or recycled paper made from its fibers. If you know a thing or two about crafting then you can very well try your hand at joining these craft fairs as well and making money through them.
